Eric Kabisch is an artist, interaction designer, researcher, and hacker of code and objects. Eric's latest project was to build and evaluate a geospatial gaming and visualization platform that enables people to construct interactive virtual environments on top of physical space - from the passenger cabin of a VW Vanagon. This research was elaborated through his PhD in Informatics at the University of California, Irvine with Paul Dourish as advisor. Eric also holds an MFA in Arts Computation Engineering from UCI, a BA in Telecommunications from Indiana University and an AS in Audio Technology. Before heading back to graduate school, Eric worked for ten years in various capacities in digital media design and development from games, to social media, to web design and art direction. He has published, exhibited and received awards in forums ranging from the Inter-Society for Electronic Arts, Leonardo Electronic Almanac, the Journal of Space and Culture, ACM SigCHI, Ubicomp, IEEE Pervasive, Orange County Museum of Art, and the Los Angeles Times.
